The English Manor house looks out over nearly 3 acres of cultivated gardens. The gardens terrace down in three levels connected by wide swaths of lawn, earthen ramps and stone stairs. The mature tree canopy sits above diverse groupings of plants and garden rooms. Working to blend an addition to the house into the gardens lead to designing a new stone stair down a steep slope, reconstituting the vegetated screen around the perimeter of the property and introduced focal points along site lines within the garden. Our role also included helped direct a small group of high school students hired by the owner to help maintain the property....
