Jay Olmsted is president and founder of Olmsted Design. Since earning his master’s degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design in 1993, he has practiced as a landscape architect on projects in many parts of the country and abroad with such firms as Sasaki Associates and Hart Howerton. Along with his daytime positions, he developed his own private practice in the evenings serving residential, municipal and institutional clients. With the growth of this practice, he formed Olmsted Design in 2019 to devote all of his energy into serving his own clients. Olmsted's 25 years of experience ranges in scale from compact residential properties to complex urban developments, from strategic land planning to detailed design, as a sole practitioner to a leader of larger development teams. His approach to people and the environments he works in centers around his love of the outdoors and the people who use and enjoy the places he creates.
